Demonic Pact - multiples and recasting

Asked by Kingofsouls 8 years ago

As a lover of interesting cards that have powerful effects but tricky execution, Demonic Pact screams yes please for me. But I have a question. The card says "Choose one that hasn't be chosen" for it's four choices.

Lets say I have a Demonic Pact in play and choose to draw two cards, and then after that I destroy it, bounce it, etc. Then later i cast it again. Since it is a new Demonic Pact so to speak, am I allowed to choose "draw two cards" again since it is a new Pact from a rules point of view and thus that option has not techically been chosen? The wording if iffy since it says ''choose one that hasn't be chosen."

Also, is the same true if I have two pacts on the field?

The Draw 2 has already been chosen, so you have to choose something else, but I am not exactly sure that's what happens. At the Prerelease I will ask a judge that question. Same is true for 2 Pacts, I think.

Well if that is the case, the card isn't that good if you can't abuse multiples of it.

i'll wait for an answer before I start the brewing.

Choices made for a given card are only made for that card.

Having multiple in play will probably let your play them differently than eachother, and bouncing it will probably permit to restart the cycle

When a card changes zones it becomes a new game object with no relation to what it was before (minus a few exceptions to make certain effects work properly). A Demonic Pact that leaves the battlefield and comes back is a completely new Pact and doesn't keep track of the choices made for the old object.

Two different Pacts are two different objects, and they don't keep track of each other's choices.
