Darksteel Relic = Indestructible 5/5?
Asked by joga 13 years ago
If i use Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas 's -1 ability on Darksteel Relic will it become a 5/5 indestructible artifact creature?
Also, is infect(to a creature) considered damage? Will it cause Phyrexian Obliterator's ability to trigger?

Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas 's ability "Target artifact becomes a 5/5 artifact creature" only does 2 things: It gives an artifact the additional "Creature" type if it didn't have it, and sets its printed power and toughness to 5/5. The artifact will still keep every other ability it had so you'll get that 5/5 indestructible.
Infect is still damage, according to the reminder text even. Plague Stinger states "This creature deals damage to creatures in the form of -1/-1 counters...". Anything that counts whether damage is dealt and/or how much damage will treat Infect damage just like it would regular damage.

For sure! Tezzy's ability doesn't say anything about removing abilities, so it doesn't remove abilities. The only implicit ability removal anywhere in the game happens when you set a land's subtypes to a basic land type, which is totally not what's happening here. Have fun with your indestructible 5/5 beatstick!
Also damage from a source with infect is damage in all respects. If the source with infect also has lifelink, damage dealt by that source also causes its controller to gain that much life. Damage from a source with infect can be prevented or redirected. Abilities that trigger on damage being dealt will trigger if a source with infect deals damage, if appropriate

yes and yes.
tezzeret has a definate affect so the relic will become a 5/5 creature thats indestructible same reason an inkmoth nexus becomes a 5/5 flying (except without the end of turn clause).
and infect states that damage is dealt as "damage in the form of" so infect does deal damage its just in a different state.
