Can you discard more than two cards with Collective Brutality?

If I cast Collective Brutality, I can discard two cards as part of it's escalate cost. I know I can only choose two additional modes on that card.
Could I discard the rest of the cards in my hand to Collective Brutality for no additional modes if I were inclined to do so?

Shucks, I thought it worked like multikicker and not just two separate kicker costs. Thanks for clearing that up!

No, that won't work. The reason is (even though the way it's layouted on the card could make you believe otherwise) that you first choose modes, then pay costs. If you choose three modes (which is the maximum amount you can choose), you will have to pay and discard two cards.
In theory, if there would ever be a permanent printed that said "You may choose the same mode more than once for modal cards you control.", you could choose as many modes as you had cards in your hand, plus one. However, that doesn't sound like something that would ever get printed ;)
