can one burn spell a planeswalker?

At school people are always using shocks and lightning bolts to take out ajani or whatever. Is this move considered legal?

Yes, you can use Lightning Bolt and other burn spells to kill planeswalkers.

More precisely, if a spell or ability you control would deal noncombat damage to an opponent, you may redirect that damage to a planeswalker that player controls during the resolution of the damaging spell or ability. Notably, this means you do not have to indicate you are dealing the damage to the planeswalker until the time for responses (such as counterspells) has passed; before then, you are simply targeting the player. This also means that if they have Aegis of the Gods in play you can't deal damage to one of their planeswalkers with Lightning Bolt (the Bolt would have to target the player before the damage gets redirected to the planeswalker, but it can't do that since the player has hexproof).
