Can I pump in response even after being pumped?

So I have a Gateway Shade out with Burning Anger attached. I pump it to 5 they Selesnya Charm it can I pump it to 6 then tap it in response to them killing it?

Yes. For Selesnya Charm to target it, first they must allow Gateway Shade 's ability to resolve until it has at least 5 power. Most players explicitly activate the ability, then allow it to resolve, before putting another ability on the stack unless they have to do otherwise for some reason.
Once someone tries to exile the shade, you can respond to the charm with another pump, allow that to resolve, then activate the ability Burning Anger grants.

After a spell or ability is added to the stack, everyone gets a chance to respond before it will start resolving. You're allowed to make that play in response to Selesnya Charm .
