Can cards that flip into legendaries be put onto the battlefield with Jalira?

For example, can Student of Elements be put on the battlefield with Jalira, Master Polymorphist?

Yes. Student of Elements is only a legendary object when it is on the battlefield and flipped. At all other times and in all non-battlefield zones, it has only the characteristics of Student of Elements and not of Tobita, Master of Winds.
