Blocking with a Face Down Morph Creature

Asked by Orcinbob 9 years ago

TL;DR: Can I block with a creature and activate it's morph cost, in a manner similar to blocking and sacrificing?

Let's say I have a Timebender Face down on my side of the field. An opponent attacks with a creature. Can I declare my morphed Timebender as a blocker, activate it's morph cost of 3, and it take no damage?

Or will it still be considered a blocker after it morphs and have to block the creature anyway?

Turning a face-down creature face-up doesn't remove it from combat or make it a new object, it just changes its characteristics. The morphed creature is still blocking.

"make it a new object"

That's what I was looking for. Thank you!
