Bestow and Creature Type

Asked by Colten_Lee 9 years ago

Do creatures that are bestowed still retain creature type?? Reason for asking, I am playing a wolf deck, random wolf is enchanted by Raised by Wolves and then I bestow Nyxborn Wolf , so does the creature receive and additional +1/+1 bc of Nyxborn in addition to the +3/+1?

Unfortunately for you, this isn't the case. If Nyxborn Wolf is an Aura, it is no longer a creature, and, as such, no longer has creature types.

Is there any way to provide further clarification, I'm just confused as Tribal cards have creature types..

@Colten_Lee Tribal is a type that was specifically created to give creature types to non-creature cards. If a creature card stops being a creature then it will lose all of it's relevant creature subtypes. If something isn't a creature and doesn't have the tribal type then it can't have creature types.

Oh, okay. That makes sense. Thanks for clarifying.

The deeper answer is that a card can only have subtypes that go with one of its card types. The list of Enchantment subtypes is currently just "Aura, Curse, Shrine", so that's why a non-creature Nyxborn Wolf can't have the "Wolf" subtype.

Part of the definition of the Tribal card type is that it has the same list of subtypes as the Creature card type. This is what allows Tribal cards to have Creature subtypes.
