Virus redirects

TappedOut forum

Sometimes when I open a new window to this website I get a pop up and redirected to a website. The pop up says something like: "you have won a free gift" or "your iPhone has a virus so install this file". The website has a really long domain and has the logo of whichever company they are trying to impersonate. I have a iPhone so my device is not the cause. It happens while on cellular data so they have not hacked my wifi. And it only happens here. Please check the HTML for tappedout.net to make sure it isn't randomly redirecting or find some other way to prevent this. There are probably users here that will actually fall for it and download a virus.

Yeah, I'm experiencing the same problem. But on the bright side, I won a free iPhone! (That's a joke, please don't click the links people!)

I dont understand how having an iPhone means the device is not the issue.

How many of you are using ad blockers?

Epochalyptik dude everyone knows that mac products can't get viruses therefore it couldn't be because there is malware on HIS device./s

Sorry about that. Occasionally Google gets flooded with these kinds of spammy advertisements across their network. I will try to track down what I can. In the meantime, even though it can be hard, it would be nice if someone could track exactly what ads seem to have loaded/correlated with these popovers.

Very sorry for the hassle! (I've been getting them too recently, on Android, and not just on T/O)

shadow63: In this case I'm pretty sure it's actually coming from T/O. I have done a full wipe of the data cache on my phone, as well as uninstalling and reinstalling chrome. T/O was the first website I went to (to check my suspicions) and within 30 seconds of browsing I received one of the redirect ads. I did a second reset of chrome and went to T/O again, same thing happened.

It seems to be coming from T/O's ads in this case.

yeaGO: The website is a cloudfront.net ad service.

I've gotten both Walmart and Amazon spam ad redirects on my Android phone, multiple times. It has been happening over the past week or so, and only when I visit T/O.
