[Suggestion] Deck Format Validator

TappedOut forum

Hey all,

Adding a Feature Request (because I couldn't find anywhere, maybe I just suck at searching):

In the deck page (or when editing), add an option to check which valid Formats that deck is possible. I normally make decks with what I have or with cards I've seen that are nice to be on the deck I want.

But I have never any idea which formats it is valid. So I sometimes go through the banned cards but in the end I'm never sure if my deck is valid to format X or Y.

Or in an even better feature, create a function called "Format Validation".

Then it would present all formats and the reasons why the deck is or isn't valid in that format.

Example Validator Result Show

This way you can validate your deck, add the correct format to it (easier to find decks in tappedout) as well as helping the user when creating the deck. So if I add a banned/not valid card, I'll know which and I'll try to change it in order to make my deck valid in the format I want.

What you guys think of it? Thanks!

Interesting idea, seems like it might not be useful to a majority of the user base.

Although not a perfect solution I'm here a lot, you can PM me and I'll check to see what it's not legal in.

Well you can just set the deck to a certain format and it'll automatically tell you whether or not your deck is legal in that format, and point out any illegal cards.

@Pieguy396 But currently you have to Edit > Change Format > Save > Look at the right column for "Legality" then click "Show Banned cards".

If I want to test for Legacy, Modern, Standard, I gotta do that bunch of clicks and flow every time for every deck.

What I suggest is to have it already available during Edit Page, showing all formats already.

That's more of an issue of the user learning what the formats are, and in 95% of cases is a feature that holds no water as decks are rarely if ever A) playable in multiple formats or B) legal in multiple formats. The only two formats that have frequent cross-checking is EDH and Highlander, the rest are so different from each other that such a feature doesn't provide any benefit.
