Greetings, everyone! I have been seeking a new Magic: the Gathering forum to join, and this one, here, has caught my attention.

I am an American male who recently celebrated his twenty-eighth birthday back in July and who is pursuing a career in technical support. I currently am working at a major pharmaceutical company for a six-month project that has the potential to become permanent, a position that I am enjoying very much.

I have had a lifelong fondness for medieval fantasy stories, superheroes, board and card games, and similar hobbies. I have no shame in identifying myself as a "nerd" or "geek," and two of my favorite games are Dungeons & Dragons and Magic: the Gathering.

I have been playing M:tG since 2003, with the release of Eighth Edition, and enjoy playing this great game very much. I have spent more money than I care to admit on cards for my decks, and I have built and re-built many decks over the years.

I do not wish to overload everyone with too much information about myself, so I shall conclude by telling you the origin story of my username. My real name begins with the letter "J," and I am fond of demons and dragons, two powerful types of beings that often appear in medieval fantasy fiction, so I decided to combine them to form my online alter-ego.

Again, I am very pleased to make everyone's acquaintance, here, and I hope to enjoy being a member of this forum!

Hi! Step one: Feel free to tone down the formality (unless that's how you prefer to write). Step two: What's your favorite format? What decks do you own/enjoy playing?

Thank you, everyone, for your words of welcome! I am very glad to be welcomed into this community!

GlistenerAgent: I always speak in a formal and proper manner; it is simply how I am. I understand that some people may find it to be odd, but, to me, it is comfortable and natural, so it does not bother me, at all.

As for my favorite formats, I cannot choose a single one, but among those that I like are: modern, because it is a non-rotating format that uses cards from the first set I ever played and onward, excluding ridiculously powerful or weird cards from the early days of the game; legacy, because it allows cards from virtually every set while still forbidding those that are unbalanced or bizarre; and EDH, because it is very different from regular sixty-card formats. My least favorite format is standard, since I dislike rotating formats due to needing to constantly obtain new cards. Usually, I simply play casual games with my friends and we do not care about formats; the only time that I willingly play standard is at prerelease events, which I always enjoy very much.

Hello, and welcome. There is always something to learn, or help with on here.

Couple things to note. At the top bar "Rules Q&A" is a great resource if you have any rule questions.

Deck cycling is a great way to get some eyes on your deck if you are looking for advice. You get one every day, and 3 if you decide to upgrade. "Deck Builder" at the top will show you decks that have been recently cycled if you are looking to give advice.

There are some great sites that you can use to play out there. Many will draft on here, move the decks over, and play. You did not mention draft that I saw, but I would recommend trying it out.
