Legacy Threshold any Good?

So I've been considering making a Legacy deck of some type for a while now. I play everything else -- modern, standard, EDH, etc.

Looking over decklists, I think I really like Threshold. Nimble Mongoose seems like such a boss and I like the mix of the other cards. Lots of filtering and countering.

My question: how competitive is this deck? Should I even bother to begin to build it? And which color combinations are the best? I think my best avenue for testing it at first will be untap.in, most likely.

Canadian Threshold (RUG Delver) is considered quite a skill intensive deck in legacy. A dedicated tempo plan combined with aggressive mana denial really rewards an intimate knowledge of the format and its intricacies, as just the smallest mistake such as bolting the wrong creature will lose you the game. With that being said, you will quickly learn the inner workings of legacy, and probably have a blast doing it. I personally love the deck and the feeling of outracing my opponent, as often you feel right on the brink of losing tempo before you close out games, due to how tight the deck is.

TL;DR RUG colors. Always has been competitive. If you want a skill intensive deck that rewards tight plays, this is your deck.

RUG Delver is a known and consistent entity. You fill your graveyard quickly without having to play bad cards. It is a good deck to learn the format and one you can stick with.

Thanks everyone. Sounds like a lot of fun. It will take me a while to build the landbase especially, but that's life. I'm going to practice with it to make sure it's what I really want to build.

Why is it called "Canadian" threshold?

Here is a pretty good history of RUG Delver that Sloves found.
