Is there a rule that states you must keep your hand above the table at all times? a guy who plays in my meta always plays with his hand under the table. It's kind of irritating as you have keep remembering to ask him how many cards he has in hand, made worse since he only plays control. If there's an official rule where it says he's not allowed to i'll make a point of it next time otherwise there's not allot i can do since we're not a sanctioned group. Personally I have a tendency to place my hand face down on the table fanned out so you can still see how many cards there are but i don't think that breaks any rules?

There's definetely a rule about hiding the board state, i think tucking your hand under the table would count. And why is he doing that again?

I don't know about the official stance, but as a player it's just shady that he would do it. Makes it too easy to hide cards, pull extras etc. I played at a FNM where a group of kids were busted for doing it and lost their packs. My buddy ended up winning and pulled a foil stormbreath when it was still 30 bucks for a regular one. Sucks to suck

Throughout the match, a draft, and pregame procedures, players are responsible for keeping their cards above the level of the playing surface.

Your hand must be in sight at all times. You absolutely cannot play with it under the table.

it's just how he plays, i know he's not cheating or anything but it's irritating when i have to keep asking how many cards he has in hand and he knows it. Especially when as mentioned he only plays control decks full of counter & draw spells etc

thanks, i'll be making sure we stick to that rule when i play him next

If he absolutely wants to put his hands (i.e. limbs) below the table, he should put his hand (i.e. cards) on the table beforehand.

I knew a guy who would search his library frequently during Zendikar block (with fetch lands) and then would drop cards from his deck into his lap while searching . He'd then add those to his hand. If someone's sitting suspiciously far from the table, it's likely that they are up to something with their lap.
