Need Help With Merfolk Deck

I haven't quite made anything yet. A while ago I came across a Merfolk deck that seemed very good. I ignored it due to it being pretty expensive.
I've looked up Merfolk decks and their all the same thing and cheaper.
Maybe Merfolk is not what I want. I just want a good 1v1 control tribal deck. If you could link me anything that'd be great. Thanks!
For merfolk control I always run a Lullmage Mentor counter deck. It's fun to play and really good and pretty cheap.

Faeries would be more controlly. If you want control/tribal it gets expensive because you need AEther Vial x4 , unless you just want a deck that's not as good as it could be...

Is this for modern?
If so, Merfolk has very few control elements, but is a very viable deck. It's also one of the cheapest modern decks to build competitively.
Most modern merfolk builds are very similar due to convergent evilution; here's the list I use for platesting.
