Changing commanders help

Commander (EDH) forum

Greetings! I have an Izoni/Savra commander deck, and it is reasonable, won me a few games, but I recently traded for a Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons. On Edhrec I think it says that Hapatra is the third best Golgari commander, so I've been thinking of perhaps switching commander to Hapatra instead of Izoni, as I think she is more and competent(and who doesn't just like threatening your opponent with an army of death touchers:)! My Izoni deck has a sacrifice/mill strategy, and I would still like to keep a bit of this strategy in a Hapatra deck. Any idea how I could best come about this? Any help would be appreciated;)

Edhrec ranks cards by popularity not strength. Izoni and savra have a lot of overlap in terms of the cards they synergize with. If you want to use mostly the same cards, switch to meren. She's probably the golgari sac/recur commander with the highest power ceiling. Hapatra on the other hand is very unique and wants to have a deck of weird cards that are weaker in a vacuum but synergize with her. The good news about synergy cards that arent played anywhere else is that they'll tend to be cheaper

I was wrong about the synergy cards being cheaper. A good number of cards that were designed to work with wither spiked when hapatra was spoiled and are now $5-10:

They're not played anywhere else so the prices are the result of some combination of low supply because they're old and artificially low supply controlled by speculators

I play a pretty nice Hapatra deck that can win pretty early. It doesn’t mill itself but sacrifice and token army is a thing. Take a look at the list if you want to, maybe you find some cards for your deck

Yeah Haparta is not a sac/recur commander. Her ability is entirely based on building your deck out of janky -1/-1 counter cards. It can be strong, but only in the right build.
