Combo or Voltron?

Commander Deck Help forum

I've been playing with my deck Derevitives and have run into a dilemma. I originally designed and bought it to be a combo control list, but usually ended up winning with Commander damage when Derevi was equipped with a sword or two. I recently purchased the sideboard for it, and though I have yet to play it in person, the online games have been much more consistent when I pilot her as a voltron strategy.

Should I just switch the sideboard into the main and make it a pure voltron deck, or do you guys think it's better the way it is?

Having played against this deck myself on untap, and seeing your decklist, it looks like it would be a lot more happy/work better as a voltron build than a combo one. As it stands, its more voltron than combo anyway which leads towards the effects it has in your description.

So I would just go full on voltron and the deck will work better.

Yeah, I think I'm going to stick voltron, with a side of combo control.

To be honest, although Derevi works for lots of strategies, the one I see being the most brutal is actually tokens. Anything that taps to make tokens is amazing with her as the tokens make more tokens, meaning with just a few cards, you can swarm the board and keep a full hand too.

But that's not very competitive. I'm trying to build it for high level EDH multiplayer, and tokens just get wrathed too much.

That's the beauty of it, that strategy doesn't care about wraths. :) Competitive? Oh yeah.

Do you have a sample decklist I could look at?
