So I was thinking, why not piggyback off Spootyone's Showdown articles. I had an idea for a monthly tournament-based article that started with the decks of 14 users. The matches would be randomized and I would play the matches against a friend. The format for said tournament would be strictly standard for the first couple of articles and then I would see where we branch off from there. So tell me if you guys would be interested in this idea and post your decks here as well.

notamardybum i will once i figure out my strategy for doing this. I don't want to say modern right away because there would be some really broken decks.

vasiliosn Modern's not broken vintage is broken.

vasiliosn You should play modern. It's actually the opposite of broken.

Besides, broken is a relative term in Magic. Example: Sylvan Primordial is broken. In EDH. You try to cast that crap in modern, and you'll get laughed out of the tournament.

I'd be happy if a tournament started off in Standard.

To me, smaller card pool usually = less research to be done in deckbuilding. The only downside I can see to using standard is if the meta gets too homogenous. (all the same)
