You Suggest 2Player PS3 Racing Games

Ok, so me and my betrothed have been enjoying playing Need for Speed: Carbon lately. That being said, variety is the spice of life, and we would be interested in new games.

Carbon is fun, and a game I have replayed many times myself. In this particular instance, it's not much of a nuisance to have to unlock all the cars and upgrades for 2 player split-screen mode.

However, I'd love it if someone could suggest fun 2 player racing games for us to try. Preferably a game where we can just pop in the disk and have all the options available to us as far as vehicles to choose from.

Suggestions don't have to be limited to cars either. Just fun simple arcade style racing. NO FORZA!

Side Note: I used to LOVE LOVE LOVE Jet Moto 2. So if you know of anything like that, let me know for sure!

(Also feel free to suggest anything you and yours have enjoyed playing together. We do already play Portal 2 though.)

Wipeout has always been one of my favorite racing game series, and Wipeout HD was arguably the best one in the series. I don't remember what the unlocks are like, but you start with most if not all the ships iirc. I also liked the Motorstorm series, but that one seems really hit or miss depending on who you talk to. Motorstorm: Pacific Rift was my favorite entry.

For misc co-operative games, a fairly obscure title that I loved to play with my brother was Cursed Crusade. The combat was kind of clunky, and the story isn't anything great, but I loved the dynamic between the two main characters and is a great game to enjoy with a friend, and should be pretty cheap to get a hold of. If you're into third person shooters, I would check out the Army of Two series as well.

When the hacking fiasco happened way back when, I chose Wipeout HD as one of my free games. It's got loads of great mods, the ships have lots of cool cosmetic unlocks but are otherwise mostly available, the aesthetics are great, and I love that you can alternate between modes with weapons and ones without. Very good casual experience.

Other than that, I really loved Grand Turismo 5 but that has a ton of unlocking to do.

Blur is quite fun to play with friends and family. It's like Mario Cart except with real cars.

Two mentions for Wipeout HD. I'll have to give that a try. It looks fun.

I actually picked up Blur a couple weeks ago at a Gamestop. I only tried it once, and was disappointed that there were only 2 cars to choose from right off the bat. Maybe I didn't set things up correctly? There were a ton of random options and screens and it made me not want to dig deeper, but one day I'll see what's up with it.
