Rules Question
Asked by Regulus1010 9 years ago
Firstly, I apologize if I'm posting this in the wrong forum. It wasn't immediately apparent to me where to post this question.
If my opponent has a Perilous Vault in play with 5 mana open to activate it and then chooses to do so, can I destroy/exile it in response? For example, cast Utter End in response and not have the board get exiled.
In short, I always get confused about what happens with spells and abilities on the stack when some sort of disruption effect enters the fray. Does Perilous Vault's activated ability go on the stack and resolve regardless, or does the fact that I exiled it with Utter End prevent it from resolving?
Thanks in advance.

Also of note, Perilous Vault is exiled as part of the cost of activating the ability, so you wouldn't be able to target it once the ability is on the stack in any case.

the old card Azorius Guildmage 's second ability could stop Perilous Vault , If I am not mistaken....

Rules questions should always go in the Q&a section.
Abilities are on the stack independent of their origin, so once an ability is on there, no matter what you do to the thing that made it, it happens.
