Question for ability ruling
Asked by Randompanda88 9 years ago
If I have a Magnigoth Treefolk in my graveyard, would it give a Cairn Wanderer Landwalk?

Thank you. I wasn't sure if it kept its ability while in the graveyard or not. And sorry about posting in the wrong place. I'll remember that next time. Again, thank you, and I apreciate your civility in correcting me.

You should ask rules questions on the "MTG Q+A" page in the header.
The answer is no. Cairn Wanderer only gets landwalk if a card in your graveyard has landwalk. Magnigoth Treefolk has a static ability that can grant landwalk, but unless otherwise printed in the ability, abilities only have their effect while the card is a permanent on the battlefield. Magnigoth Treefolk is just a creature card with a funky static ability that Cairn Wanderer can't benefit from.
