I'm creating a language!

So I started this project about a year ago as a way to waste time during slow periods of my 3rd shift job. It's been a Fantastically rewarding (if not difficult) experience and now that I've finally got an alphabet and phonic understanding of it I think it's time to start on words.

I was wondering if anyone would like to create a Word for this crazy project of mine?

My only rule is they can't start with R, other then that it's a very flexible language. Also, if anyone is interested I can post the alphabet and a phonetic translation to English so others can learn it if take inspiration on making their own.

I've made my own "language" I use in a cryptograph program I created. Ever since I've been interested in the idea of creating a phonetic way to express my "language" through other means than programs and handwriting.

Simply for my own selfish reasons, I would like to see what you've created thus far and how you've created your own way to develop it into speech.

So is this a language or an alphabet?

@Eiti3, I'll gladly share! For starters I've based my alphabet off of phonetics, one thing that's always erked me about English is that a good deal of letters don't sound like the character. "ch" in chart, as an example doesn't sound like the letters "c" and "h." it's a distinct part of the language that was denied a stand alone character.

I used this chart as my base, and a signed unique characters to most of the sounds. (there are more songs out there but I find these ascetically pleasing and I can pronounce all of them.)

From that point you only have two steps left- phonetic constraints, which is basically an equation of what sounds can be next to each other. That's why we don't have words with 6 consonants in a row or "vl".

  • sentence structure, which isn't an that important unless you prefer a different order to your words.

  • words, literally the most important part, without a distinct dictionary of its own a language can't actually be a language.

As for the words, the vast majority of words in any language come from two sources, other languages or the mind of the speaker.

I don't plan to appropriate words at all so I've started the dictionary from scratch, hence the post for help.

This site has been a huge help in the how and why for this project, I found it kind of dense and hard to digest but it was with the effort

@Epochalyptik, it's more than an alphabet, but less then a language at the moment. I have everything but the words and without its own words a language is just a Cypher for something else.

Also if either of you know a good way to share photos I can post the characters and words that I have so far
