Reanimate or wrath? Because the commander clause is a replacement effect and it won't go to grave unless I choose it to. So Child of Alara won't trigger unless I choose to send it to grave.

It was recently made so that when a commander dies it act sort of like a token. Token don't go to the grave but they pass though it activating anything that is activated by it being sent to the grave. I also run Child of Alara as my commander and it still triggers even if you send it back to the commander zone.

I had to check this out, so I went directly to the EDH/Commander site. I found this under play "This is a replacement effect; the creature never goes to the graveyard and will not trigger such abilities." So aside from all that, is there any other suggestions you can think of?

Yeah, you'd get some use out of a Gift of Immortality . All you need is a way to destroy Child of Alara

I am surprised I haven't thought about adding in gift of immortality yet. I don't know exactly what I would take out at this point though, or if it is even worth it as of now since the theme is reanimator not continuous wrath. I can also see it not work in my favor at times.

just so you are aware you don't need a ton of reanimate cards due to the fact the commanders pass through the graveyard before going to the commander zone
