With theme aspect you could try using General Tazri to build a deck about finding allies to help fight your battles?

Tazri, Beacon of Unity might also work if you want to build a party to fight your battles.

Honestly I think that right now you really, really want five colors for a battle deck. Some of the battles are just not that good in commander (looking at you Invasion of Eldraine  ^Flip...) or really pull you into a specific strategy (looking at you Invasion of Tarkir  ^Flip...). I think if you want the deck to be functional you'll really want to roll with all five colors for now.
