First, check out this handy spreadsheet that Absinthman is using to track the tournament with. It is infinitely superior to my own method.

Now, on to results.

Round 2 is complete!

TridenT def. RussischerZar 2-1

Leafs_Suck def. Deckbuilder345 2-1

GureiSeion def. landot 2-0

Goody def. Darkness1835 2-1

Round 3 Pairings:

RussischerZar (0-2) vs. Leafs_Suck (2-0) - RussischerZar wins 2-0

TridenT (1-1) vs. GureiSeion (1-1) (1pm Pacific, Monday, 8/19)

Deckbuilder345 (1-1) vs. Darkness1835 (1-1) - Deckbuilder345 wins 2-0.

Goody (1-1) v. landot (1-1) - Landot wins 2-0

The TBDs will be changed to their proper times in this article as they are scheduled, and I'll also post the update in the comments.

All the games will be on my stream, twitch.tv/krazycaley

Can we get the leader's names replaced with the team names? Is that something we could do?

August 16, 2013 12:57 a.m.

Goody says... #2

Hey no discussion of odds, us team leaders don't know them yet!

Also, slight mistake; I'm playing 10PM EST, or 7 PM Pacific.

@Goody: I summoned Caley, and he brought down the b& hammer on my comment. Don't worry.

August 16, 2013 3:25 a.m.

Absinthman says... #4

Everyone is welcome to use this sheet for scheduling and keeping track of the results. Anyone with this link has read/write permissions to it, so KrazyCaley can insert the dates and times there as soon as they are determined. I've already updated it based on latest known information.

August 16, 2013 8:28 a.m.

KrazyCaley says... #5

Gah, sorry. Absinthman, I forgot to link it. I'll put it in the main article right now.

August 16, 2013 8:30 a.m.

Absinthman says... #6

It's fine Caley, no problem. I know you're a busy man.

August 16, 2013 8:31 a.m.

Good luck everyone in round 3.

I'm eager to see what the general observer thread has to say about all the decks after we're finished.

potatoedoughnut: We are ruthless in our commentary, and we even go as far as to badmouth your hair.

August 16, 2013 11:26 a.m.

Absinthman says... #9

@Dallie: That's the spirit! Is it just potatoedoughnut's hair that you are badmouthing, or everybody's? Can't wait to read how we all suck at both MTG and hair styling. :-D

August 16, 2013 11:41 a.m.

I'm having a great time watching the videos and working within a smaller team, but I gotta say there are aspects of the old format I do miss. Call me old-fashioned or make fun of my (lack of) hair, but it's killing me that we can only have minimal public discussion about game play. Once the tournament is over, few people will care if turn 6 of match 2/game 3 should have been played this way, or that.

August 16, 2013 11:50 a.m.

@ smash10101 i support your notion that we list the team names next to the pilot names.

August 16, 2013 12:20 p.m.

@ SupremeAlliesCommander one solution might be to create a new private deck for the two teams who were participants in the match to discuss how the plays went after the match is over.

August 16, 2013 12:28 p.m.

@ SupremeAlliesCommander

I think it's fun drafting with the smaller teams, but now that the drafting is over it's killing me not being able to read any discussion or commentary on the games.

August 16, 2013 12:43 p.m.

I've updated the spreadsheet with a new tab that automagically updates the totals table. It also autofills the lower half of the results table, so only enter scores in the TOP half (enter the score for the person on the column).

The auto table is in a new sheet called "AutoSheet", the original tables are untouched on "List 1." If people like the new one we can hide the old one.

Absinthman: you might want to protect the cells in the lower half of the results table and in the totals table so they don't get overwritten. I tried, but I don't think I have permission to protect cells.

August 16, 2013 1:03 p.m.

Absinthman says... #15

@potatoedoughnut: Thanks a lot for this vast upgrade. I knew there would be someone who could automate the sheet (as my knowledge is insufficient in this field). I've presumably locked the lower part of the results table and the totals table. Please try and check that it works when you have time.

@Everybody: I like the idea of having team names there instead of or next to the pilot names, but I don't know all the teams' names. We (DeckBuilder345) are Team Magic Carpet, and RussischerZar's team is Maze Runners, if I remember correctly. What about other teams?

August 16, 2013 3:59 p.m.

Deco_y says... #16

Leafs_suck's is Vox De Bello

August 16, 2013 4:23 p.m.

@absinthman: The ranges are set up correctly, but you need to change the permissions to comment only.

If you go to Data -> Named and Protected ranges this will open a panel on the right side. For each range click the edit button and click "modify permissions" and change it to "can comment" for the range and hit save.

This should make it so people can leave cell comments (if something is wrong/borken), but can't directly edit the cell.

August 16, 2013 4:29 p.m.

forgot to tag you Absinthman

Also I changed it so the team names will update from the top of the results table, so you only have to modify the team name in one place to change them all (except the scheduling).

August 16, 2013 4:32 p.m.

Absinthman says... #19

There seems to be some server error right now. I keep getting error messages. I'll wait and try to do it later.

August 16, 2013 4:42 p.m.

Yeah I kept getting error messages earlier today as well. It's fine if it's not protected. Hopefully people will edit the correct places, and if not we can revert to an earlier version to fix it.

Dallie says... #27

Absinthman: Don't worry, we steered clear of the bad words.

August 17, 2013 6:13 a.m.

Absinthman says... #28

I've updated the sheet with the latest schedule and team names that I got.

@Darkness1835: Your team name was a bit long so I dropped "The" from it to make it fit into one row. I hope it won't be a problem. If you insist on having the article there, I can edit the column width later to make it fit.

@Dallie: That's actually a shame. Bad words are to language, what salt and pepper are to a meal. :-)

August 17, 2013 6:28 a.m.

Absinthman says... #29

@potatoedoughnut: For some reason, I can't get the protected ranges locked. I set them to comments but nothing changes I think. And then I start getting those server errors again. I guess it might have something to do with the whole sheet being shared on the link basis, and not on username basis. I guess we have to trust people not to edit wrong cells.

August 17, 2013 6:33 a.m.

Dallie says... #30

Well it will all have to wait until after the DDD is over, we have lots of time to edit and delete our comments.

August 17, 2013 10:32 a.m.

@Absinthman: I think it's fine. I went ahead and hid the old sheet so folks should just see the new one.

August 17, 2013 11:33 a.m.

August 18, 2013 10:58 a.m.

RussischerZar says... #52

@ Absinthman: the spreadsheet is really nice and helpful. one think I find a bit strange though is that the results table is unintuitive to read (at least for me). I would think that that the left number correlates to the team on the horizontal while the right number relates to the team on the vertical axis. at the moment it's the other way around which left me wondering if the results were put in correctly (which they are, for our part).

August 19, 2013 5:12 a.m.

Absinthman says... #53

@RussischerZar: What you say is true. In fact the original table that I made was like that - first number for horizontal, the second for vertical. When potatoedoughnut created the updated automated version, he switched the numbers. I thought it was strange too, but decided to keep it that way because the change would require to update the totals table to link to other cells than it does now. I then decided to at least make it more clear by alternating column background colors.

August 19, 2013 9:29 a.m.

I switched them so that it was easier to make the formulas to update. I agree that the other way makes more intuitive sense, sorry for the confusion :(
