for even more fun, make Bladewing the Risen the 2nd target to revive the grave reaver, mill 3 and possibly get another dragon.

burferking i've played this format once in paper magic. didn't realize it would allow more than 4 copies of a card. left after 1 game to 60x Chancellor of the Dross

plakjekaas "That's the topic of discussion yes, that's exactly the question that was asked in the original post, with given examples where exactly that is the case, and if there were any rule behind it. It was not magwaaf who said that, it was DemonDragonJ."
i never implied magwaaf said that, and what you quoted just now was entirely different.
i literally did not "deny the entire premise of the post". certainly not to "spite" anyone. i actually AGREED with the post by saying that multicolored cards are in fact usually stronger than monocolored counterparts.
the one derailing and not contributing is in fact you. saying that "af is stronger than rt because of power creep" does not answer why Thought Collapse is stronger than Psychic Strike you derailed, not me. you got off topic, not me.
Shock and Lightning Bolt do not have the same effect. the effects are not equal. i know what an effect is. been playing this game over 20 years, most of those years competitively. 2 is not the same as 3. you are factually, mathematically, and provably wrong. it is not the same effect no matter how you spin it.
you don't even know the definition of ad hominem. i've never once attacked any person here. i've argued against your logic. that is, by definition, not ad hominem.
this whole post is a trivial nitpick anyway because at the end of the day it doesn't matter if sometimes a monocolored card is stronger than a multicolored card with a SIMILAR effect. OP is constantly making these posts every time some minor thing doesn't go his way in this game.

wallisface my responses aren't the combative ones, yours are. you're the one nitpicking "but the year" and "but the rarity". you can't objectively quantify and measure powercreep, so arguing an imaginary line in the sand for how many years makes a comparison valid or not is arbitrary and subjective. my comments were no more counterproductive than you or plakjekaas nitpicking the year and the powercreep. you wanna tell someone to "stay on topic", then tell that to plakjekaas. if he's allowed to give a nonanswer to op's question by bringing that up, i'm allowed to refute it.

wallisface: yes it's still a fair comparison. Merciless Eviction came 8 years after Final Judgment yet i don't see you making a stink about that. what OP was describing was difference in colors. someone ELSE tried to attribute it to powercreep. the comparison is not disingenous. now you're the one derailing the argument.

do people actually enjoy this type of "format"?

wallisface the 2 additional affects are the point. thats WHY the effect is stronger. same with instant vs sorcery. making a card an instant makes it more powerful than the same effect at sorcery speed. the op was the one providing that example, as the "norm". they asked about the exception, and gave examples of both the norm and the exception.

wallisface you can also google synonyms of "same" and see that "identical" is the first one. what you found however, is from "google ai" which is quite often wrong. i did not derail anything, because semantics matter here. same means identical. same means equal. this is of primary importance in this thread. the whole point of the original question is about differences in card effects, therefore not same. i was debunking someones factually incorrect point, not "derailing" anything. point being, to say that Aurelia's Fury vs Rolling Thunder is "not a valid comparison", is just blatantly incorrect. the cards are in fact a valid comparison.

wallisface i'm not concerned about what the majority of people think. that doesn't make them right. "identical" is literally a synonym of "same". an example of "same" effect would be Accorder's Shield and Cathar's Shield. even the OP upvoted my comment saying that the effects are similar, not the same.

wallisface i don't think it's disingenuous. how much space is a deck going to have for flicker effects when it has to dedicate itself to either a reanimation strategy, or enough ramp to reach 6 mana? might as well just use an infinite mana loop and win with ballista. the best thing a Triskelion can really do is combo with Mikaeus, the Unhallowed, and thats another 6 mana card.

702.44b Sunburst adds counters only if the object with sunburst is entering the battlefield from the stack as a resolving spell and only if one or more colored mana was spent on its costs, including additional or alternative costs.
sunburst counts all colors used to cast a spell, not just the colored mana used to pay generic costs.

5 counters.

Karn, the Great Creator was used with Mycosynth Lattice before lattice got banned. Kaldra Compleat is another option, and "ugin, eye of the storms" from the upcoming dragonstorm set is just bonkers. Kozilek's Command has been seeing play, and Echoes of Eternity seems fun.

Sigh. You had a good run this time, but picking a fight with someone else over making off topic posts in the off topic section of the site shows you have not fully abandoned your old ways.
You have had dozens upon dozens of accounts muted over the years. At a certain point, it just seems kind of sad that you keep returning. If you wish to discuss Magic somewhere that will put up with your behavior, perhaps try Reddit instead.
