Hello :) I am Sheld.

I play casual commander. I tend to only keep a few decks at one time, but I put a lot of work into them. I rework some decks from time to time, or disassemble the ones I don't play regularly and swap them for new ones. The decks I currently own are displayed here on my profile page.

My goal when building a deck is to balance optimization with flavor, and allow for opponent interaction. I'd say my deck-building style generally fits into the Bracket 2 of the new Commander system.

I aim for my decks to be highly synergistic and flavorful. I want every card to be there for a reason. Not because it's the best possible choice for the slot, but because it synergizes well with the rest of the decklist and fits into the general theme and strategy nicely. I prefer fun and synergistic cards over staples, but I try to optimize the deck within these constraints.

As for the opponent interaction; I try to make sure that the deck builds its win-conditions on top of the main strategy, avoiding anti-climactic wins out of nowhere. A gradual telegraphed strategy ensures that opponents can have impact on my game plan. It is also much more rewarding as it showcases the theme of the deck more and the games "tell a better story" than if they would end with some combo unrelated to the previous gameplay.
