Howdy, welcome to my profile.

  • Casual EDH player. I'd argue all of my decks are average to semi-tuned. They won't stand up in a cEDH pod but most of them come with an infinite combo or silver bullet strat built in somewhere. Overall my playgroup fields slower "battlecruiser" decks, so that's where I've settled, but the option to win out of nowhere is great for when we have a random addition playing with something more powerful, or simply if the game is dragging on for eternity and I really need to get going.
  • Love the chaos Planechase brings to the game.
  • Find cEDH, Legacy, and Vintage cube draft fun to watch online, though I doubt I'll ever play myself.

I was introduced to Magic in the fall of '99. This was right around the time Mercadian Masques was released, so cards from the Ice Age, Mirage, Tempest, and Urza's blocks were still commonplace. I was initially lured by the radical fantasy art and the concept of a dueling card game, then became enamored with the color pie, the concept of deck building, and the seemingly endless combinations of cards and strategies. I learned about Type 2 as a format, and my playgroup dedicated ourselves it.

As the years passed and my friends moved away, I found myself playing less and less and decided to hang up MtG for good. I wasn't buying cards any longer since Mirrodin had introduced a sort of unfamiliarity (new card frames, equipment cards, strange plane) that I didn't find all that appealing. Plus MtG seemed childish compared to what was priority at the time. I was more interested in trying to fit in at school, working, and planning for future academia. My collection sat in sleeves in my closet, untouched. I didn't have any plans to go back to it.

Then in my late college days I discovered a couple of my buddies had played in the past as well. We started pulling out our old collections and throwing decks together, trading, reminiscing, and critiquing the new sets and mechanics.

Towards the middle of 2011, I picked up the "Heavenly Inferno" commander precon and started dueling my buddy, who had picked up the "Devour for Power" deck. From then on it was all things EDH, which pretty much continues to this day.
