Deckling -

Started playing Magic in 1997, shortly after Tempest came out. A couple of friends in high school helped me get into the game. My first deck was a terrible red/black that ran Lord of the Pit/Breeding Pit, but things eventually got better. Eventually things got somewhat boring, as the few friends I played with either went their separate ways or weren't very good, and I stopped playing around Kamigawa block. I got back into Magic just a couple of months ago when I found out my brother was back into it, and while I maintain my old Vintage decks (I have only played casually), I have taken interest in Standard play.

My favorite story about Magic is when I met my fiancee's (now wife) nephew for the first time, shortly after Mirrodin came out. He played Yu-Gi-Oh, and we agreed that he would teach me to play Yu-Gi-Oh and I would teach him to play Magic. The end result? He no longer plays Yu-Gi-Oh :)
