Changes, 16 May 2022: -1 Dust Bowl, +1 Ziatora's Proving Ground. I have all the land destruction I need in Wasteland and Strip Mine. I don't think I used Dust Bowl's destruction ability once, as a matter of fact. Having the triome - able to be fetched with non-basic fetches, cycle, and produce all of our colors - is much better.

Changes, 04 May 2022: -1 Prairie Stream, +1 Spara's Headquarters cuz I got one from a pack. A fancy one no less! The Stream came in tapped more often than not (when it matters most, at least), so adding and the cycling option is pure upgrade.

McToters Love it. Will definitely take a hard look at each of the pacts when I decide a commander/colors. It's fun just looking for cards that are gonna cause chaos. Think of how much fun Hive Mind will be with Grip of Chaos...

Just thinking now though: in a situation where all 4 players are casting a Pact of Negation thanks to Hive Mind, presumably at least one of them is going to be countered. Is a player off the hook for the upkeep mana then if their PoN is countered? I would guess that they are, since it reads like an ability that needs to resolve, but I guess I'm not sure exactly how that pact mechanic works.

Aceh Yes, she could, but probably not quite enough to get her in here. Pumping the team in the form of counters isn't something I have included elsewhere here, but I think I probably have an excess of effects that make everyone bigger. Being a mana dork whose mana can only be one color and used conditionally isn't gonna be strong enough to make the cut. I think she'd need a true angel tribal deck, she'd be very strong there. Thanks for the suggestion though!

McToters Hey, thanks for all the upvotes! I'm glad you seem to enjoy my decks.

That is not a combo I had considered. I'm only running Suture Priest of the three of them though. That 10 CMC cost on Storm Herd scares me off a bit, although any game that gets Smothering Tithe going generates plenty of mana. That could interact in an interesting way with Angel's Trumpet (another card I've considered but am not running currently) if Suture Priest isn't going to kill everyone immediately. That would require a pretty strong pillow fort situation to feel safe. Probably not going to include the Herd mostly because I would think that if I have the mana to cast it and win with that combo, then there's a pretty good chance I can get there with my Hippo Storm strategy anyway. If I did want to lean even more into pillow fort and include Angel's Trumpet, I'd probably find a slot for the Herd though.

Hive Mind however has my wheels spinning a bit. Probably not for this deck, but I love thinking about the amount of chaos this could introduce to the game. I decided that my philosophy for this deck is that everyone can draw all the cards and have all the lands they could want, but I don't want to share anything else. I wouldn't want to share my tutors or counterspells, or certainly Approach of the Second Sun. I love that Hive Mind doesn't even give you the option, you have to copy it. Imagine everyone drawing their entire deck by casting a large Prosperity... Now my imagination is piqued and I'm gonna start thinking about a deck that does nothing but cause chaos.

So again, thanks for all the upvotes, and indeed now for planting the seeds for my possible next deck!

Balaam__ Indeed! Bender is my spiritual cousin. A nickname I picked up upon learning Bender's full name eventually became my internet nom de plume. I think you're the first person to have picked up on it without me first mentioning Futurama. Well done!

You would need some way to flash Celebration for it to win on the turn it's played of course. If you're Simic you've got access to Leyline of Anticipation, or Tidal Barracuda as a budget-friendly option. Probably other options I'm not thinking of offhand. The Elocutors will probably need to have spent 2 prior turns out though, I don't think it would work to flash Celebration during upkeep unless they started a turn with the correct filibuster counter on it already. Maybe I'm wrong since it's a "Do this. Then do this" wording. That'd be a neat trick if they could win on their first upkeep. You could even flash them in during opponents end step and they'd never even have a chance to respond before the game was over

All this is moot of course if you're not gonna be in . I briefly ran Elocutors in my Phelddagrif commender deck, but I doubt any multiplayer game has ever been decided with their win-con. I remember thinking when I took them out that they can probably only really be effective in a deck built specifically for them, as you've made here!

Xag803 There sure are! Commander's Plate is really good, especially in mono or colorless decks. Lifecrafter's Bestiary could really help you filter and draw some cards. Of course the ever-popular commander staples Lightning Greaves and/or Swiftfoot Boots. Considering that your plan is to make absurd amounts of mana, any of the Eldrazi titans - or any Eldrazi without a colored mana in their cost, really - could really help you close out games. To reiterate, if you haven't checked it out yet, you should really poke around EDHREC.

Can't go wrong with this sort of functionality at this price point! While I understand it would certainly complicate the game plan, have you ever considered adding to an Elocutors deck? It would give you access not only to a wealth of fog effects, but also Planewide Celebration. That can of course immediately get you to 5 counters as soon as it has one. One last thought: while its ability is probably prohibitively expensive for modern, Prahv, Spires of Order could turn out to be a lifesaver - literally!
