Winnower Patrol and multiple creature types
Asked by student-of-life 11 years ago
If I have a Winnower Patrol out and at the beginning of my upkeep I look at the top card of my library and it is another Winnower Patrol , do I get a +1/+1 for the elf type and a +1/+1 for the warrior type? Or just one?

No worries!! That's how I thought it worked. Wanted to double check. Thanks!

You only get one counter, as it does Winnower Patrol does share a creature type with itself. The ability doesn't check how many creature types the creatures have in common, only if the have at least one common creature type. The ability only checks for 'yes' or 'no'.
The confusion probably arose because you thought that the ability checked for every creature type. It only checks once, and that's with all of the creature type. The ability doesn't go 'yes (trigger), no, no, yes (trigger again)' it just goes 'yes, there is a common creature type'
Sorry for the long explanation and all of the checking, I hope this makes sense! This should also resolve a lot of future problems.
