Why can't Umori, the Collector be my companion if my commander is Grist, the Hunger Tide?

Grist counts as a creature in the command zone, so if i'm only running creatures and lands, shouldn't this work?

Thanks for the tip, and the reply! This is a link to my deck. According to tappedout, the deck isn't legal. Is this just an issue with the site's deckbuider?

Yeah, the coding for the site might not be able to handle Grist having different typing than is printed on the card during deck construction.

You can link cards by enclosing them in double brackets.

Grist, the Hunger Tide
Umori should be able to be your companion in this case. The phrasing of the question is interesting though. Did someone tell you that it couldn't?
