Whenever a nontoken creature dies... Does Reaper of the Wilds or Grim Haruspex have priority?

Asked by Saberxbro 10 years ago

Well Im running a deck with Grim Haruspex and Reaper of the Wilds and I had a few questions:1. If my opponent plays a boardwipe and Grim Haruspex and a few other creatures are on the field, do I still draw?2. If a creature dies and I have both the Haruspex and the Reaper on the field, can I choose which triggers first?

And here's the deck, I plan on playing it for game day:

Please link all cards in your question.
Grim Haruspex
Reaper of the Wilds

"Priority" refers to the right to take game actions. Cards don't have priority; players have priority.

Whenever multiple permanents enter or leave the battlefield simultaneously, they all "see" each other entering or leaving. Grim Haruspex will see each other creature that dies alongside it, so its ability will trigger for each of them.

Reaper of the Wilds's triggered ability and Grim Haruspex's triggered ability both have the same trigger conditions. The abilities will trigger simultaneously for each creature that dies alongside the source creature. Because you control these abilities, you choose the order in which they're placed onto the stack.

It is also worth noting that if multiple abilities trigger at the same time, and you don't control all of them (for example, if you control the Haruspex and your opponent controls the Reaper, and one of your creatures dies), the order in which these abilities resolve depends on whose turn it is.

If it's your turn, your trigger will be put on the stack first, and your opponent's trigger second. Then your opponent's ability RESOLVES first and yours second.

If it's your opponent's turn, the triggers (and resolutions) will be in opposite order.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks, and so would I be able to scry 1 with the Reaper and then draw and repeat for each creature dying, or no?

Yes, but you need to announce the stacking order of the abilities when you put them onto the stack; you won't be able to rearrange the order later to scry multiple times if you don't scry into something you like the first time.
