When you regenerate a creature does the die effect trigger?
Asked by soulscream 10 years ago
If i have a Black Cat and I use Wail of the Nim does the effect trigger and I get to regenerate the cat or the effect doesnt trigger at all?
also does the wording make any difference in this or any scenario? what i mean is if that doesn't or does work with Black Cat does it work with an undying creature or an effect that states when the card is put into the graveyard from the battlefield, since the wording is different ,or is there some kind of loophole with death triggers and regeneration?

It doesn't trigger at all. When something regenerates you "Tap it, remove all marked damage, and remove it (if an attacking/blocking creature) from combat". This replaces the destruction event, so it never goes to the graveyard and dies abilities won't trigger.

Sorry, forgot to address this

In these cases the card goes to the graveyard from the battlefield(which fulfills the dies trigger condition) and then returns. With regeneration the card never hits the graveyard in the first place.

As for the entwine question (which really should be its own question), no, you must do things in the order listed. From the comprehensive rules:
702.41b If the entwine cost was paid, follow the text of each of the modes in the order written on the card when the spell resolves.
