When it attacks effects w/ Preeminent Captain

I use Preeminent Captain to play another creature like it self or Hero of Bladehold . Do their effects trigger too? I assume they would go onto the stack when you check at the end of declare attackers step, but I'm not completely sure.

Note also that the game doesn't check at the ends of steps and phases for abilities that could have triggered. Abilities don't trigger retroactively. If they didn't exist at the time the trigger event occurred, then they don't trigger.

"Whenever (something) attacks" abilities trigger when the (something) is declared as an attacker at the beginning of the Declare Attackers step. They won't trigger if the (something) is put directly onto the battlefield attacking. Hero of Bladehold won't trigger in your example.
