What does Touch of Moonglove actually do?

I was looking at Touch of Moonglove and got very confused as to what it actually does

It is basically a temporary enchantment for one of your creatures.

A creature of your choice, which you control, gets +1/+0 and Deathtouch. When your "enchanted" creature kills another creature, the controller of the creature that was dealt damage and died takes 2 damage.

Is this what you were asking?

"the controller of the creature that was dealt damage and died". It may be just the fact it's 1:30 AM, but that just isn't making any sense to me.

When the creature with Touch of Moonglove's effect on it deals damage to a creature, it essentially gives that creature it dealt damage to an ability that reads, "If this creature dies this turn, lose 2 life."

Normally this means that the creature will be dealt damage, have that "ability" marked on it, and die right away from lethal damage. However, say the creature had indestructible, stopping it from dying right then. If you, later in the turn, force your opponent to sacrifice the creature, or you reduce its toughness down to 0, then the creature will die and they will lose 2 life.

To put it another way - example:

  • Player A has a vanilla creature on the field and Player B has a vanilla creature on the field.

  • It is Player B's turn.

  • Player B attacks Player A with his creature.

  • Player A pays and casts Moonglove, targeting his own creature.

  • Moonglove resolves and Player A's creature gains +1/+0 and Deathtouch.

  • Player A declares his creature as a blocker.

  • No other actions are taken by either player, so combat damage is assigned and resolves.

  • Player B's creature dies due to Player A's buffed Deathtouch creature.

  • Player B takes no further actions, so the additional effect of Moonglove resolves and Player B loses 2 life.
