Way to trigger high priest of penance ability ?

Hi, I wonder about High Priest of Penance ,it say the ability trigger when that guys is dealt damage.

So is "destroy", "sacrifice", or "-1/-1" mean dealt damage, or its only when High priest is blocked or blocking ?

By the way, i'd like to know if "exile" mean "die"

The only things that deal damage are effects that specifically say "damage" and attacking/blocking creatures in combat. Only those things will trigger High Priest of Penance .

"Dies" means "goes to the graveyard from the battlefield". Going to exile isn't dying.
