using Stoneforge Mystic

so i always thought that when you played Stoneforge Mystic you could not use her ability that makes her tap right away because she has summoning sickness but someone told me otherwise. So can you play her, then pay 1W and tap her to play the equipment that you fetched?
Pliler28 is right, BUT not entirely.
"The term summoning sickness is an informal term which describes a creatures inability to attack or to use activated abilities that include the tap symbol when it has come under a players control since the beginning of that players most recent turn."
So you see if a creature has an activated ability that does not include the tap symbol, then you can still use it.
Keep in mind also, please, that because of the Shadowmoor "Untap" symbol, summoning sickness has been defined as:
"The term summoning sickness is an informal term which describes a creatures inability to attack or to use activated abilities that include the tap symbol or the untap symbol when it has come under a players control since the beginning of that players most recent turn."
Gaining control of a creature: this means.. if your opponent has already had a creature on the battlefield for 50 turns and then you take control of it during your turn, that creature will have summoning sickness the turn you gained control of it, unless the card you take it with gives it haste.
Pliler28 says... #1
The first turn any creature card is cast onto the battlefield it and its activated abilities cannot be activated or used unless it says otherwise on the card or the creature spell has haste.
