using Gods Willing

Asked by abenz419 11 years ago

when do you choose the color your creature has protection from? When it's cast or when it resolves? In a game I was playing earlier my opponent had 2 creatures on the board one White the other Blue and I targeted my Agent of the Fates with Gods Willing and this question came up. Because I targeted my Agent it's heroic ability triggered and we didn't know if I had to name the color when it was cast allowing him to sacrifice the creature of that color and then being able to block with the other, or if I had to name it when it resolved allowing me to name the color of the creature he didn't sacrifice.

You name the color upon resolution.

Awesome, thanks. That makes for a really nice combo. Offensively and defensively. I can make you sacrifice a creature and make my Agent unblockable (essentially) till end of turn, or I can target and make you sacrifice a creature, then block the other using the deathtouch to kill anything and the protection to keep the Agent alive.

Yeah that is a pretty nifty combo.

using Gods Willing and Boon of Erebos are two really good heroic triggers. The Boon of Erebos works essentially the same way but instead of protection it gives regeneration.
