Using Annihilating Fire on an indestructible.

Asked by acbooster 11 years ago

What happens when you cast Annihilating Fire on something with indestructible, such as Tajic, Blade of the Legion ? Would he get exiled because he was marked with enough damage to be lethal, or would he not because he wouldn't die from lethal damage?

No. The reason is that the exiling replacement effect only kicks in if the target would die. And because damage doesn't cause creatures with indestructible to die, the replacement effect has nothing to replace.

He would live due to having indestructible, but if he were to die in some way (toughness being reduced to 0) on the same turn he was damaged by Annihilating Fire , then he would be exiled.

Alright, the wording just seemed ambiguous to me.
