Tangle Asp and Fog
Asked by Egann 10 years ago
So a recent casual deck I ran across has both Tangle Asp and Fog and I wanted to verify my reading of these cards.
If you were to declare Tangle Asp as a blocker, then cast fog, Tangle Asp's ability would still trigger and destroy the creature at the end of combat. The Asp does not have deathtouch, so it doesn't actually have to deal combat damage to trigger it's ability.
Am I right?

Yes, that's right. Tangle Asp (and any other creature with the old "Thicket Basilisk "-style ability) only cares about blocking, not damage, so damage-prevention effects like Fog won't interfere with it.
