Stuffy Doll vs spells like Last Gasp

Asked by drhumbra 13 years ago

1)I'm pretty sure a Last Gasp would not kill a Stuffy Doll , is this correct?

2)if I Last Gasp my own Stuffy Doll and my opponent is targeted by Stuffy Doll does the opponent take 3 damage?

I know there are other cards like last gasp I am wondering how the counters work in that instance. Thanks:)

it will get destroyed. you can use the ability if you played it on your last turn or you have given it haste.

1) Yes it will. Whenever a creature's toughness is reduced to 0 or less, it is put into its owner's graveyard as a state-based action. Having 0 or less toughness is not protected against by indestructibility.

2) No. You are not dealing damage to Stuffy Doll , and therefore it will not deal damage to the chosen player.

-X/-X effects don't cause damage, they directly reduce the power and/or toughness of creatures affected by them. Stuffy Doll's triggered damage ability doesn't trigger.

Indestructibility saves your creatures from effects that specifically say "destroy" (or "bury" on old cards) and dying from lethal damage. Since a -X/-X effect doesn't cause damage or say destroy, it will remove Stuffy Doll from the field.

If Stuffy Doll is hit by infect damage, it will still deal damage to the chosen player, since infect is a form of damage. However, infect also reduces toughness to 0 through counters, so Stuffy Doll will still die.
