Stubborn Denial with Prowess

Asked by Loreshadow 9 years ago

I have a question about Stubborn Denial. If you use a creature with Prowess and cast Denial to create a four power creature, does the Ferocious part of Denial trigger before the counterspell resolves? I have my own mono blue deck that centres around Rebound and Prowess and would really benefit from that I think.

Ferocious is not a triggered ability. It's an ability word that indicates a relationship between similar abilities.

In the case of Stubborn Denial, ferocious is attached to a static ability that seines a replacement effect. The effect is applied to the relevant event as it would happen, which, in this case, means that it applies as Stubborn Denial resolves. The spell will check whether ferocious is true on resolution, which means that your prowess interaction is fine.
