Soul Foundry and devotion to a color
Asked by SorcerersBone 11 years ago
So I was looking at an old card that I had, Soul Foundry 's ruling, and then I noticed this bit of ruling according to the gatherer.
"Most creature tokens have no mana cost and a converted mana cost of 0, but a creature token put onto the battlefield by Soul Foundry has the same mana cost and converted mana cost as the card it copies"
So does this mean if I use the soul foundry on any colored creature, the token copy of it will also have the colored mana symbol in its cost? And that I can count those symbols for devotion to that color? eyes Mogis's Maurader and Reverent Hunter intently

Yes, this works the way you want.
Like the Gatherer ruling said, most tokens (like the 3/3 centaur made by Call of the Conclave for example) won't have a mana cost, as tokens only have the attributes defined in the card that made them. As Soul Foundry makes a token copy, it has all the copiable attributes of the imprinted creature card, including mana cost.

Yes, tokens that are copies of normal cards add devotion. This is part of the reason Pack Rat is run in MBD.
