Shatter the Sky vs. Feat of Resistance

If an opponent plays Shatter the Sky can I put Feat of Resistance on one of my creatures and select "white" as the "protection from" color save it from being destroyed?

No, you cannot save your creature with this method. Shatter the Sky does not target, therefore the protection offered by Feat of Resistance will do nothing to protect your creature.

As a rule of thumb, you can use the acronym DEBT to determine what protection will protect from.

  • D - Damage
  • E - Enchant/Equip
  • B - Blocking
  • T - Targeting

Since Shatter the Sky does none of the above, protection will not prevent its effects.

Interesting. So while the card states that it offers protection from a chosen color, it really does not off complete protection from the chosen color. Somewhat counterintuitive.
