Exquisite Blood + Sanguine Bond Instakill combo?
Asked by Thundagawd 10 years ago
I've seen a few decks here using the Exquisite Blood + Sanguine Bond combo (I also use it in my Vampire EDH deck), but I've always wondered, does gaining life/dealing damage to the enemy while both cards are on the field result in and endless combo that continues until the opponent runs out of life? Or do both only trigger once per turn, or does damage dealt/life gained with one not affect the other? It seems like dealing a single point of damage in a game with like 6 people could result in all 6 players dying in a single turn, and that seems kind of overkill. Does anyone more knowledgeable in the rules know how this would work?

It can kill any number of opponents, and sets off as soon as one trigger happens, so whenever you gain or they lose a life.
Also, rules questions like this belong up in the MTG Q&A section.

There's a banner above the new thread field that reminds you to ask rules questions in the Q&A. Please heed that notice.
I can't move this to the Q&A, so I'm moving it to BE.

Hadn't noticed there was a Q&A tab at the top, I thought it would be a section found in the forums (Haven't been part of the site very long). I'll keep it in mind and post any subsequent questions I have regarding rules in the appropriate section.
Thanks for the answers though, that's what I wanted to know. Played a game with a few friends last week and when both cards came out many questions were asked.

First of all, rules questions should be asked in Q&A.
Secondly, the combo is an infinite combo. If you have both cards on the field, and you either gain life, or cause an opponent to lose life, it creates an infinite loop that will result in all opponents' life totals being at zero.
