Renegade Krasis and Evolve Creatures Without +1/+1 Counters

Asked by Emrakool 12 years ago

I'm assuming this works, but I just wanted to ask to be sure. If I control a Renegade Krasis and cast a Gyre Sage afterward, would the 2nd effect of Renegade Krasis apply if I stack the evolve triggers accordingly when a larger creature enters the battlefield under my control?

For example -

Renegade Krasis enters the battlefield

Gyre Sage enters the battlefield

Thragtusk enters the battlefield, both evolve abilities trigger, I place Renegade Krasis 's trigger on the stack followed by Gyre Sage . Gyre Sage evolves and becomes a 2/3, Renegade Krasis evolves and becomes a 4/3. Renegade Krasis 's second ability resolves and Gyre Sage becomes a 3/4.

I believe you are correct.A little nitpick here, Renegade Krasis 's second ability triggers than resolves because it still has yet to evolve.

But yeah, being stupid and nit-picky aside, your right.

Yeah I didn't want to run on the question too long so I skipped right to the resolving portion.

you are correct because abilities check upon trigger and resolution so when Renegade Krasis ability resolves it see's that Gyre Sage has a +1/+1 counter and puts another one on it.

Thanks! I just wanted to clarify before I use them this week and somebody tries to tell me that it's an illegal play.
