Quiron Druid with multi-color

Asked by Baddie 11 years ago

Whilst playing against a friend, he played Quiron Druid followed by a Spike Jester . He then put two counters onto Quiron because "it is both a black AND a red spell, so it should get two counters."

I disagree being as that it is still only one spell, but he insists saying he uses it in tournaments.

I think you mean Quirion Dryad

He would only put one counter on the Druid. Since the rules text is in one ability, it checks to see if the spell was any of those colours. If it is, the Druid gets a +1/+1 counter.

In this case, Spike Jester is black and red. Quirion Dryad checks to see if it's red, blue, black, or white and since it is, it'll get only ONE +1/+1 counter.

7/1/2012: Quirion Dryad's ability will trigger only once per spell you cast, as long as that spell is at least one of the listed colors.

Here are the rulings from QUIRION DRYAD (which tappedout has no page for, for some reason)

7/1/2012 Quirion Dryad's ability will trigger only once per spell you cast, as long as that spell is at least one of the listed colors.

7/1/2012 Quirion Dryad's ability will trigger if you cast a spell that's green and at least one of the listed colors.

Your friend is a liar, and a cheat. Or mistaken, and also a liar.

Either way, this is now cleared up.

If he still complains, explain it this way: The dryad's ability is just a binary question. It's not really looking for all the colors or anything. It's just asking each spell you cast a yes/no question of "Are you some color other than green?" It doesn't matter how many other colors, it's just "yes, get a counter" or "no, you don't get a counter".
