Question about Eldrazi Displacer
Asked by Rudmed 9 years ago
This is a card that I have a few questions about, I got it as my promo (yeah that's pretty awesome), and I really like the ability. I know it can be used with processors, it can be used to tap down enemy creatures, and remove counters, but I have a few other questions.
Can I use it to protect my other creatures? Can I use it to block my opponent's attempts to buff their own creatures? What can this ability do and what can't it do?
Okay, that is very cool! That's what I thought! Now...the question is, how do I include a white eldrazi in my decks and how to make the most out of that ability. I thought you could use it for that, but I never got the chance to during the pre-release

I moved this to the Q&A to address the rules portion of the question. If you want to focus more on the strategic choices for the card, I'll move it back to the forums.
It has the most potential as a combo piece in Commander. Outside of that, I'm not really sure what you would run with it.

Yes and yes.
When an object changes zones (including, for example, when a permanent leaves the battlefield), it becomes a new object and loses any "memory" of its previous state in any other zones, including the one it came from.
By blinking a permanent with Eldrazi Displacer's ability, you remove any buffs affecting that object in particular. You can also use the ability to make the target of a spell or ability illegal (e.g., to dodge targeted removal spells or buff spells).
