Question about Deflecting Palm and Chromanticore

My question is:

If I move to combat with my Chromanticore and swing, and my opponent casts a Deflecting Palm, will I hit myself and gain 4 life because of the lifelink, in effect staying at the same life total I was at, or do I lose the 4 life?

Deflecting palm prevents the damage, so you gain no life. Then deflecting palm deals damage equal to the amount prevented, so you take 4.
