Phthisis

What will happen if Phthisis targets an indestructible creatcher
The spell will resolve as much as it can. As long as the target creature is on the field by the time it resolves, it will try to destroy, see that it's indestructible, the creature will survive, and then the opponent loses life.
Damage =/= loss of life.
I've won a few games before by targeting things like Darksteel Relic with card:Glissa's Scorn while my opponent was at 1.

zandl is correct. Since the life loss effect of Phthisis isn't dependent upon the creature being destroyed (it doesn't say "if that creature is destroyed this way"), the controller of that creature will still lose life regardless of whether or not the creature is destroyed.

It lives. Pretty sure the controller still takes the damage.
